We offer an array of fundamental courses that will help you negotiate difficult situations and improve your understanding of cancer care's ever-changing landscape.

Please Note: Please ensure you have the required equipment to take part; please join 10-15 minutes before the start time and if you are sent pre-work please ensure this is completed in good time before the session as you may not be able to attend the virtual workshop without completing

The aim of these 2 half-day workshops is to raise awareness of the nature of cancer, prevention, early detection, investigation, staging and treatment options for cancer.

    Understanding Cancer and its Treatments is broken down into Session 1 and Session 2. Each session takes 3.5 hours.

    Workshop aims:

    Session 1:

  • Describe the biological nature of cancer in basic terms
  • Discuss the risk factors for developing cancer and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle
  • Name the UK cancer screening programmes
  • List some common potential signs of cancer
  • Session 2:

  • Be aware of common investigations involved in the staging, grading and diagnosis of cancer
  • Understand the main treatment options for cancer
  • Discuss the impact that cancer treatments might have on someone with cancer

    You must attend any session 1 date before you attend any session 2 date unless you already know the basics that would be covered in session 1. Please do not attend session 2 without having the knowledge of the subjects of session 1. We only have the opportunity to cover the topics intended in each session.
